Magazine Research-Audience

From conducting research into inspirational music magazines, the most appropriate age range for my magazine seems around 16-25 ABC1 young people with a majority male audience. Therefore, i decided to create a brief questionnaire in order to understand my target audiences main wants and needs. The results are shown below.

Despite the results of this question being quite wide spread, it is relatively clear that the genre that my age group are most interested in is rock music. Therefore, it is highly likely that i will be incorporating and covering this type of music in my magazine. However, there also seems to be other genres in which my target market are interested in, therefore it would be wise to try and include several other types of  music in my magazine to try and attract a wider range of audiences.

From this question, it is clear that the majority of my target audience have experience in playing musical instruments. Therefore it is essential that i include some sort of reference to this in my magazine.

The graph above shows which music magazines are popular within my target market. Althought the results are close, it is clear that the most popular of the magazines is NME, closely followed by Q. Magazines such as Kerrang! and rock sound are less popular, therefore its less likely that i will be influenced to take inspiration from these magazines.
One of the last questions i included in my questionnaire is 'what artists are you interested in?' There were many rock acts mentioned such as Paramore, Blink 182 and Bring Me The Horizon mainly, yet there were also less heavy bands mentioned such as The Kooks, and Foster The People. The less popular artists included more contemporary acts such as Cher Lloyd and Cheryl Cole, therefore its highly unlikely that i will incorporate these acts in my finished magazine.
